The 2017 season of the Super Trofeo has been scheduled

Sant’Agata Bolognese, December 1, 2016

The 2017 calendar of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo has been planned; besides the three series Europe, Asia and North America, there will also be a championship in Middle East: it will be an intense season starting in early February and ending with the World Final, scheduled at Imola from November 16-19.

The highlight event of the season will be returning to Italy, after the inaugural edition held at Vallelunga in 2013 and those of Sepang (Malaysia), Sebring (Florida, USA) and Valencia (Spain). Imola’s World Final is the pinnacle of the partnership between Lamborghini and the Emilian circuit, where more than 50 days of activities related to the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese are scheduled over the coming year; including those of Lamborghini Accademia and the Youngster Programs of Squadra Corse.

Six are the rounds on each of the calendars of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe, Asia and North America, the last of which is also scheduled at Imola in the same week as the World Final. After the historic record of 50 cars at the start set at Spa-Francorchamps this year, a considerable response in terms of participants is expected also in 2017 along with some substantial novelties: one of these will be the new format according to which a double driver-crew will be mandatory in all classes.

The first five rounds of the European series, now in its ninth edition, will take place in the context of the prestigious  Blancpain GT Series; the first four rounds of the Super Trofeo will be held during the same weekend as the Endurance Cup. Once again, the racing season will kick off at Monza on the weekend of April 22-23. Then, the series will continue at Silverstone, England (May 13-14) and at Paul Ricard, France (June 24-25). Subsequently, it will be the turn of Spa-Francorchamps, in the same weekend as the Belgian 24h race (July 27-28) . On September 16-17, the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Europe will instead “accompany” the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup in its trip to the Nürburgring, Germany.

New “setting” for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Asia which will take place on the same dates as the new Blancpain GT Series Asia organized by SRO. This is an ideal context for a championship which has been attracting an ever-growing interest. Next year, the series,  established in 2012, will start on the Formula 1 racetrack of Sepang, Malaysia, on the weekend of April 8-9 and will then move to Buriram, Thailand, on May 20-21.  Subsequently, it will be the turn of the two Japanese rounds of Suzuka (June 24-25) and Fuji (August 19-20), whereas the fifth round is scheduled in Shanghai, China, on September 23-24.

Fifth edition for the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North America which will take place in the context of the prestigious IMSA series on some of the most fascinating and demanding racetracks, such as the Circuit of the Americas, in Austin (Texas), which will host the first round on May 4-6. The last weekend in June, the series will move to the historic circuit of Watkins Glen (New York). At the beginning of August, it will be the turn of the Road America racetrack, Wisconsin, and at the end of the same month the series will arrive at the VIRginia International Raceway. On September 22-24, the racing event will take place at Laguna Seca, California.

At least 20 Huracán Super Trofeos are expected to be on the grid for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East scheduled in Abu Dhabi on the weekend of February 9-11. There will be three rounds and the last two will both take place in Dubai on February 16-18 and March 2-4 respectively.
